Bits & Pieces...Callie's Room

Well, since it's just about the few rooms in the house that's close to being finished, I figured it was due for a little show-and-tell.   First, we've just got to start with the "before."  Seriously ugly mint-green walls with lots of scuffs, the tiniest light fixture, and the oak trim that was throughout our house.

After a few four coats of paint and primer on the wood trim and two coats of paint on the walls (Benjamin Moore's Mellow Pink), we're getting there.  A new light fixture and some window treatments didn't hurt.  The chandelier was actually wrought iron and was hanging in our dining room when we moved in.  I put a few coats of spray paint on it, some prisms and beads from Hobby Lobby and Michael's, and you can't even tell it's not from Pottery Barn, right?  :)

Callie likes it.  She can say "paint," "bead," and "light." What a smarty pants, just like her daddy!  :)

So...I couldn't find any curtains I loved, so I ended up making my own with fabric I found at Jo-Ann's.  Sewing is not one of my strong points (I lack what they call precision), so it must be easy if I can do it. I figured, I'm a mom now.  It's about time I invest in a sewing machine.  :)  Oh, my inspiration for the room as well as the curtains were from Restoration Hardware Baby and Child, one of my favorites.

Okay, ready for my fabulous thrift store finds?  Maybe you can spot them. Wooden horse...about six dollars plus some spray paint (noticing a theme?).

Have you heard of the book called The Polite Elephant?  It's one of my favorites.  All those old-fashioned manners are classic.  I believe I got it at a thrift store for about 60 cents.

Mirror was gold and just needed a quick spray!

Gotta love Sophie the Giraffe (probably cost more than the dresser...)  No, I think it did cost more than the dresser!  I'm weird sometimes about the whole high-low stuff.  I'm always looking for a bargain, but at times am not afraid to splurge.  Weird, I know.

Callie loves to kiss her babies...

And I think she wanted to show you her new teeth she's getting (in the back)!

That's it!  Hope you enjoyed the tour!
