Well, maybe there was no blood. But it sure was a lot of work. For some reason, I decided to try and reupholster a wing back chair that I found at a garage sale. Actually, maybe I do know why. At the upholstery shop, it costs $350-500, just for the labor. Now that I've done it, I can see why {the tutorial I followed can be found here}. But anyway.
Here is the Before:
And, are you ready? With the help of a staple gun and some hot glue...
The After:
I must warn you. Do not look too closely.
See? I warned you {I am not known for my precision.} Actually, it's not quite done. If you look closely, you will see that I still need to sew a cover for the cushion. I don't have a sewing machine at the moment, so I just wrapped it in extra fabric for this picture.
The stats:
Old chair at a garage sale... $25
Floral fabric for chair... $40
Having a new piece of furniture for our new house... priceless!
One more warning. Make sure not to scratch your hardwood floors when you move it by the window to take a picture.
And definitely do not let your child play with a pen while you work.

I think the chair looks fabulous! Sorry to see the scratch on your floor...
The chair is beautiful! Do you need a sewing machine? If you do, you could borrown ours...let me know!
Wow, you did a great job on the chair, it's gorgeous!
nice work!! the chair looks awesome, finished or not. i'm bummed for you about the floor casualty. :( totally something i would do, though!
It looks great!! We actually picked up a very similar chair off the curb the other day and took off the fabric, but that's all the further we've gotten. I'm glad to see most of it can be done without sewing!
That's a bummer about the floors, but that is one cute baby!
Great work! It looks so great. Love the fabric.
I would never even attempt such a thing.
Nice job Nealy. I think it looks great.
So I have to know how you did the piping as well. I thought that was really difficult to do. Nice work!
Way to go Nealy! You did a great job! I was actually just thinking this morning about doing the same thing for a chair in our bedroom. Want to come back to AZ to help me? ;)
