Baby Weight

Callie's three-month birthday is almost here. Only 1 1/2 weeks away!

This is significant because she will officially no longer be considered a "newborn." Her 3-6 month clothes are already starting to fit, and I think it's time to get out the next size of onesies as well. It's a bittersweet thing for this mama because I love having Callie be my little baby and I want her to be one forever (okay not really). At the same time, it's so fun to watch her grow and change. She's talking more, is super alert and aware of what's going on around her, and is getting so big so fast!

The other reason this is significant is because three months was my personal goal to lose the baby weight. I know they say "nine months on, nine months off," but I figured that we don't have that much time before the next pregnancy, and I don't want to be carrying baby-weight around for the next 10+ years!

So I have 1 1/2 weeks left and 3.5 pounds to go. The not surprising thing is I have found that my body is shaped a little differently now and my clothes aren't fitting quite the same either. Usually my tummy was not my problem-area, but now all of my shirts feel a little too short! Good thing she's worth it...

Losing the baby weight has been both harder and easier that I thought. The first 20 dropped within the first few weeks, and the last 13 have been more difficult (yes you can do the math to find out how much weight I gained).

So hopefully I will reach my goal by next Friday. I'll keep you posted.

I would love to hear what other moms did to lose the baby weight.

I totally fail in the 3 month mark. Levi is 5 months and I have 5 pounds to get where I started and more like 8-10 to get where I want to be.

Honestly, I try not to sweat it. I try to get to the gym but with 3 kids and having to make an appointment for Levi a day in advance, and getting there in between nursings but not during a nap, it's hard. I don't watch what I eat, I eat what I want.

And yes, after 3 babies my body is shaped much differently and I know that in the coming months, it will continue to change shapes. Usually in a good direction. I do try to work out, run or take a walk with the kids but it doesn't always happen.

I guess I just don't sweat it, some of my jeans fit and I have bought new shirts because my chest and stomache are much different than before. It'll come off.

way to go girl! Looking good! I hope I can also do what you've accomplished in such a short amount of time. You've probably been taking off the same amount that I've been putting on these past 3 months! :)

Way to go! You are smart, although we never planned on our first 2 being less than a year apart and I found out I was pregnant when our first was 3 months old, I still hadn't lost the weight. Now after #5 in less than 5 years...lets just say its taken a toll on my body. Its all so worth it though! I am now focusing on getting in shape rather than the number on the scale...but don't get me wrong its a daily struggle! :) You look awesome!

My experience was similar to yours Nealy. I had gained 29 with Abbie and after the first week I had lost 19 (11 of it just after coming home from the hospital, the rest probably from nursing and water weight.) So the next five came off a little bit more slowly and five still remained once I got pregnant this time around (oh-well.) As for the reason your shirts feel short...I actually felt the same way. I think it is due to the fact that for SO LONG you were wearing shirts that were longer to cover your growing belly and also because now that you're nursing, your boobs are bigger and that pulls the shirts up a little (sorry, hope that isn't offensive.) That is my reasoning anyway. Sounds like you are doing great and even if you don't meet your goal by next Friday, you don't have far to go. Good job!

you are so close...i'd just consider it done. most people can fluctuate 3+ lbs in a day anyways depending on how hydrated they are...and you need lots of water! i lost all my weight fast with breast feeding and little to no exercise (gained 31 lbs i think). but i made way, way too much milk and lost the weight too fast actually. i made enough to feed twins and still have a few months of milk left even though i stopped pumping at 9 months! i don't recommend it. it takes toll on your body and i felt malnourished even though i was eating like a pig...2-3X as much as Brandon ate.
