How Did This Happen?

Today I realized just how much my life has changed.

I've always considered myself tried to be somewhat hip. However, I realized that I may have lost some of my "hip-ness" when I found myself wearing sweats and a pony-tail in the check-out lane at Target, holding a screaming baby in one hand and distraughtly handing over coupons for diapers in the other. All the while, trying not to get the yellow breastfed-baby-poop onto my clothes that was starting to run down her leg.

Ah, can't you just picture it? Talk about the epitome of suburban motherhood! Did I mention that, before going into Target, I sat in the parking lot in the back seat of the car to breastfeed her?

And just the other day as I was looking through my shoe closet, I was amazed at how high some of those heels were that I used to wear! How did I ever walk in those things!?! Now-a-days, I'm a little embarrassed to admit, it's Uggs, Crocs, or Nikes. I think I need to go shoe-shopping!

You know what's funny though? I wouldn't change my life now for anything. There may be a day again when I put back on my super high-heels, carry a purse instead of a diaper-bag, and am able to wash my hair and shave my legs in the same day. But for now, I'm having fun being a mom.

HAHA! I love this post! I can TOTALLY relate! Times have changed! But, like you, I wouldn't trade it for the world!

It's sobering isn't it??? Life changes so much and so quickly. It has been 2 years and I still can't get both my hair washed and my legs shaved in the same showering period (at least not very often.) Glad you are enjoying all the tiring, gross, and somewhat stressful parts of parenthood. It is all worth it!

I couldn't agree with you more Nealy. What we look like especially in Target just doesn't matter anymore. Being a mom is way more joyable than wearing heals anyways :)

Love it! It's so true! I often think how in the world did I ever justify spending $300 on a pair of Chanel glasses,or $200 on jeans...someday I might be hip again, but in a cool momma money saving way! we should start a club!!
