Cabo

We had a great trip with my family. Are we crazy for taking such a young baby to Mexico? Oh wait, we are the crazy parents who took our three-day-old baby to apply for a passport just so we could get it in time. You should see her picture in it, she will have to keep it until she's five!

So we planned the trip almost a year ago and didn't want to miss out, it's like a family tradition. It turned out that she did great and we felt safe the whole time (glad we weren't in a border town though)! Flying was easy because we had a direct flight and just gate-checked her stroller and carseat. She slept the whole flight and I fed her during take-off and landing.

Some of the highlights of our trip:

• Spending time with the family.
• Brady & Wesley meeting Callie for the first time; Wes said he "wants one!"
  
• Jasey changing her first diaper...may need a little more practice!
  
• Taking tons of pictures of Callie (as you can see below).
  
• Getting a tan in March.
• Two words: baby dresses!
• Going on walks to the Mexican town of San Jose del Cabo.
• The guys (and Jay) going ATV-ing while the girls got spa-treatment pedicures (thanks mom!).
• Guacamole and fruity drinks by the pool!
• Callie taking her first swim - she seemed to like the water.
• Having tons of help with Callie and just relaxing.

Thanks to my parents for a fabulous trip and to the fam for all your help with the babe!

The Pink Hat Indident

I just wanted a cute picture of my babe with her little pink hat.

I set her on the couch in her bedroom and started taking pictures. I took a few pictures, adjusted her little body. Took a few more, adjusted her hat.

I could capture her little face better if she was propped up higher on a pillow, closer to the edge. There, much better.

My top-heavy little girl didn't stay propped up on the pillow for long.


Thankfully, I caught her just in time.

Phew.

That was scary!

I also caught the picture just in time. The evidence. I thought about immediately deleting it from my camera. Then no one would know what (almost) happened.

Instead, I decided to broadcast it on my blog. Next time, I'll be more careful.

Life-Saving Baby Gear #3

The swaddle.

Callie just loves her swaddle, and it is well worth every penny. It instantly soothes and calms her down, and she sleeps really well in it. Before babies have control of their arms they can startle and wake themselves, so this helps her sleep better. We try to wrap her up in it at night around the time she starts to get fussy.

We have two swaddle wraps (and she's sadly outgrowing them!). The one shown is a Swaddle Me by Kiddopotamus (this one has a pouch for her feet, and adjustable velcro wings), and we also have a Halo Sleepsack (more of an "outfit" with the velcro adjustable wings, the bottom part zips open to make diaper changing easy).

Not to mention how cute she looks all bundled up like a little Eskimo baby!
